Opteka 85mm ane.eight

$150 for an 85mm f/1.8 lens? I tin't detect much of a review on this lens. Is it safe to assume it's made by Rokinon/Bowwer/Samyang? If it has the same well-respected optical functioning of the Rokinon 85mm one.four then information technology would be a heck of a bargain. It should piece of work on Micro Iv Thirds with a simple $20 EOS EF to M43 adapter.

Re: Opteka 85mm 1.8

I'll do it....  Or really I merely did it

Seems great.  It came with a hood, purse and caps.

I bought it to utilize every bit a longish indoor lens.  For stuff like poorly lit childrens school concerts etc.

For the price information technology doesn't need to be awesome, but it does need to be useful.  I did two non so scientific tests:

a) In a dimly lit room I took a moving picture with my 25mm f1.iv and this 85mm (both were at ISO 1600 and taking a picture at the aforementioned range).  Then I compared how much better the 85mm looked as opposed to just cropping the 25mm.  I merely wanted to make sure information technology was useful at all for my purposes.  Definitely a useful lens in this instance.

b) In well lit situations I become sharper pictures with my twoscore-150 (set at around 85mm).  But that could exist just due to the manual focusing..

I'd say my gripes are that:

-the manual focus band feels like information technology has a bit of play in it...  maybe. But this is my commencement manual focus lens and maybe I'one thousand just feeling the divergence between a manual band and the electronic kind in my other lenes.

-the lens cap that came with information technology is sized so that it attached to the outside of the lens hood.  I don't want to keep the hood on for indoor shooting.  And without a front lens cap I dont' like putting the lens in my purse.  But the hood makes it twice every bit large.  I'll have to notice a cap that works.  Oh well.

I'm using it with a fotodiox adapter.  Works great.  Really prissy and snug.

Would y'all heed posting some samples (on a tripod, with different apertures would be perfect :p)

Thanks!

No, not prophylactic. Samyang Optics has a web site. If it was their lens they would accept listed information technology on web site.

There is customer review on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Production.aspx?Particular=9SIA04D0NZ3849
"wide open this lens is total mush with ghosting. you need to stop downwardly about ii stops before the blur gets even remotely OK. ugly bokeh."

Sounds about correct for inexpensive noname lens.

If it has the same well-respected optical performance of the Rokinon 85mm 1.4 then it would exist a heck of a bargain. Information technology should work on Micro Four Thirds with a simple $20 EOS EF to M43 adapter.
